Awards

The Atlantic Provinces Association of Continuing Education (APACUE) invites adult learners to apply to receive an award valued at $750.00. Adult learners (as defined by your institution) who are currently enrolled in a certificate, diploma to undergraduate degree program at an APACUE member institution are eligible to apply. Students apply on the basis of their academic success, academic and career goals, contributions to university and community at large, and family considerations (including financial). Each member institution will select up to two candidates to represent that institution and will forward their submission on to the APACUE Regional Awards Committee for final consideration. The final award recipients will be selected from the institutional nominees.

To apply, please complete the Joyce Kennedy Award Application form and submit it along with your current transcript to your institution's Continuing Education unit. Application deadline is October 31, 2015.

Joyce Kennedy Adult Learner Award: APACUE will present 2 awards of $750.00 each, in honour of Dr. Joyce Kennedy, to adult learners who are enrolled in a degree-credit program at a member institution.

Awards are assessed using four criteria:

  • financial need,
  • academic achievements,
  • contributions to community, and
  • university as well as long-term goals.

These adult learners are presented with a plaque and are acknowledged at a reception during the APACUE annual Forum and AGM. The reception is an opportunity to showcase the achievements and commitment of adult learners, as well as reinforce the importance of continuing education throughout Atlantic Canada. The Joyce Kennedy award winners are celebrated at the annual Spring Forum.
