About
Us
The Directors of Summer
School formed an organization in August 1963 to study the possibilities
for cooperative action. In the spring of 1973, a new organization
Atlantic Provinces Association for Continuing University Education
(APACUE) was formed and the Constitution was adopted at the inaugural
meeting. APACUE maintains an informal relationship with the Association
of Atlantic Universities (AAU).
Aims/Objectives
To provide a forum for
university personnel associated with credit, non-credit, university
extension, and university continuing education programs whereby the
concept of continuing education as an integral function and
responsibility of the university may be promoted and developed.
This is accomplished
by:
- promoting
closer relations and providing for the inter-change of information
and ideas among university continuing education faculty and staff;
- focusing
public attention on the importance of university continuing
education for adults;
- encouraging in-service and graduate training of
existing and potential university continuing education staff;
- cooperating
with the Canadian Association for University Continuing Education
(CAUCE) and its institutional members in the advancement of
university continuing education;
- serving
in an advisory capacity to the Association of Atlantic Universities
and other bodies on matters relating to university continuing
education;
- working with other groups and institutions
involved in continuing education.
